AN INNOVATIVE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM UTILIZING

THE POWER OF MUSIC

TO TEACH AMERICAN HISTORY AND LITERATURE

TMP/PLN WORKSHOPS

The Muse Project offers workshops in collaboration with the Penn Literacy Network, a comprehensive, professional development/curricular enhancement program based in the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania.

PLN has provided on-site credit-bearing and non-credit bearing seminars, workshops, and mentoring programs to more than 29,000 Pre K-12 educators across the United States and in Ireland in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, science, and technology since 1981.

Each workshop focuses on the integration of music across the American history, social studies, and American literature curriculum. By adding the musical component to the exploration of information texts, we develop strategies to help students access and produce the academic language of content area texts. In addition, by exploring each piece from a musical perspective, we highlight the importance of aesthetic learning, which inspires imagination and creative response.

Workshops are available at the local and district level. Each workshop includes one PLN facilitator and one Muse Project facilitator.

Workshop Fee: $5,000/day plus expenses.
Discounts available for multiple-day workshops.
